It’s not many people who can lay claim to being commissioned to design the world’s most expensive donut and decorate Ireland’s biggest easter egg but Charlotte Marrifield from The Harrogate Cake Co. was once tasked to do just that.

Fodder is proud to stock some of Yorkshire’s best suppliers and The Harrogate Cake Co. is one. Run by husband-and-wife team, Charlotte and Kevin Marrifield, it was originally founded as Sugar Therapy in 2010, and quickly gained recognition as an award-winning patisserie in Harrogate. In 2015, the business moved to a purpose-built bakery in North Yorkshire to develop and produce their Undeniably Charlotte and Harrogate Cake Co. products.
“We’re currently based in Thirsk. We started off in the centre of Harrogate in Station Parade but then when we went into manufacturing, we needed to find a bigger place and we found a bakery that was ready to go in Thirsk in 2015 and we’ve been here ever since.”

Charlotte has been a patisserie chef for over 25 years, starting out in Michelin-starred restaurants before moving into innovation and development of retail desserts in 2000. Husband Kevin joined Charlotte in 2015, bringing his expertise in food manufacturing, distribution, and production.
The couple continue to create incredible desserts every day. Their passion for quality and creativity shines through in every bite, and we’ve been supporting them from the day they started Harrogate Cake Co in 2010.
“We try and be as local as we can, we use Yorkshire milk and cream in our products. But the products are made with love, handmade, hand-wrapped, and the team really care and are dedicated. That’s our USP – we’re willing to go the extra mile for our customers.”
“We’ve been working with Fodder from the very beginning. Our famous fruit cake is the most popular product, and we even supply them into their gift hampers at Christmas. We do different seasonal toppings on the fruit cakes, but the naked cakes are all year round. The iced fruit and nut-glazed are particularly popular at Christmas.”

“In a couple of weeks, we’re launching a new range of desserts in the shop – so look out for these! We’ve got cheesecakes and individual potted desserts like chocolate mousses.”
