Twos Company Bakery – Ayla McLellan & Marion Roslin
Ayla had always been a keen baker, spending much of her childhood in the kitchen learning the craft alongside her grandparents. When she and her husband moved their young family from the States to Harrogate – his hometown, Ayla joined a baby sensory class to meet other local mums. It was there she met Mari, and the two quickly bonded over their shared passion for baking. From that connection, they baked up the idea of Twos Company Bakery.
“We clicked right away, Mari had a baby around the same age and, like me, a real passion for baking. It wasn’t long before we were talking about starting a business together and that’s how Twos Company Bakery began!
“With young families of our own, we knew exactly what busy parents needed: a delicious pick-me-up for those long afternoons, and something sweet to keep the kids happy – a cookie really is the way to a child’s heart (or to keep them quiet)! We wanted to offer homemade products that felt like a little hug – something comforting, made with love, and full of flavour.
“We owe a lot to Fodder. Mari has worked in their kitchen and takeaway for a number of years, and earlier this year, they gave us our first chance to stock our bakes on their shelves. That break helped us get our name out locally, and now we have up to 14 products on rotation in Fodder. Our bestsellers? Definitely the Mini Egg Cookies and Daim Cookies – at Easter we had to buy out Mini Eggs from several local shops just to keep up with demand!
“Alongside cookies, we also offer a number of other sweet treats including Rocky Road and our Vegan Lemon & Lime Cake and as well as in the Fodder Shop and Kitchen, you’ll also find us at local food markets too where we tend to be most Sundays! Demand has grown so much that this month we’re moving production into a dedicated bakery space – it’s wild to think how far we’ve come! This new space will give us room to grow, create more, and expand our range even further.
