Bilton father and son Gary and James Sibson supply florists, chefs and shops including Fodder from their beautiful plot in Harrogate.
Naturally Grown Farm spans a fifth of an acre in Bilton which is an abundant treasure trove of vegetables and flowers.
Gary has had the plot for 18 years since James was born, transforming his life as a builder and joiner for a life as a food and flower producer.
“I have chefs coming for their veg as well as supplying Fodder with the tastiest fresh tomatoes, kale, runner beans, mixed beetroot, courgettes, patty pans, leaks and carrots. Sometimes flowers too although most of my flower customers are local florists for wedding flowers,” said Gary.
“The first veg I grew were courgettes and that’s where it all started. I began growing loads of them, then a friend took over a local greengrocers and they started taking supplies.
“I kept expanding, I got more orders and I have got to that point where I need to go to the next level and get a field.
“I’m a builder by trade, a joiner, and I thought I need to do something else. I love the peace here. I run around like a headless chicken half the time because there’s so much to do but that’s part of the fun. It’s like my sanctuary. It’s a labour of love.”
Fodder loves Naturally Grown as it aligns with our ethos of supporting local suppliers and they’re only two miles up the road so the food miles are short! Look out for their fabulous array of coloured beetroot on our shelves as well as all the sumptuous greens – straight from the ground!
