Our third stop on Fodder on the Mooove took us to Harrogate Brewing Co. on Hookstone Chase, just a mile from Fodder.
Since taking over the brewery in January 2020, Joe and Julie Joyce have built on its original success with hard work, integrity and plenty of northern charm.
It’s a real family affair at Harrogate Brewing Co., with daughter Martha and son Mathew working alongside Joe and Julie.
Harrogate Brewing Company operates two main venues, each with its own character and charm.
The Brewery Taproom on Hookstone Chase is attached to the brewery itself, so you can enjoy a fresh pint with the brew kit in sight. It’s open Thursday to Sunday throughout the summer (Friday to Sunday in winter) and is also home to their annual Hookstone Hooley beer festival in August.
In Harrogate’s town centre, you’ll find Harrogate Brewing Co. Royal Parade pub, opposite the Royal Pump Room Museum and Valley Gardens. Set on the historic site of the former Old Bell Tavern, the building has been welcoming drinkers since the 18th century. Today, it’s the perfect spot for quality ales, Yorkshire grub and weekly live music in a relaxed atmosphere.
Harrogate Brewing Co. has been supplying Fodder since 2022, and the team runs a bar at Fodder’s Yorkshire Day event.

‘We love working with Fodder. The staff and Stuart are super friendly, it’s a great environment, and we have a strong relationship, which makes everything really easy.’
At Fodder, we stock a wide range of Harrogate Brewing Co.’s core beers, including Harrogate Best, Harlow Blonde and Stray All Day.
Their beers pay tribute to Harrogate’s rich history, as well as the people and landscape that shape it. Like Fodder, the brewery is committed to keeping products local and of exceptionally high quality. Their beers have won more than 73 awards, and in 2023 the company was named Family Business of the Year at the Yorkshire and Humberside Federation of Small Businesses Awards.
In March 2026, Fodder launched the Great Yorkshire Beer, created in partnership with Harrogate Brewing Co. Joe, Director at Harrogate Brewing, and Stuart, Catering Manager at Fodder, worked closely together to bring the beer to life, shaping both its flavour and packaging.
It will be available to buy at the Great Yorkshire Show and is already a big hit at Fodder.
